The festive season is fast approaching and with it comes the perfect time to propose. If the time is right for you and your significant other to tie the knot and you have been planning to, then consider popping the question on one of the special days coming up. Who wouldn’t love telling the story for years to come of a Christmas Day or New Year’s Eve proposal?

Now that you’ve decided on when to ask the all-important question, you’ll need to start planning what will be inside the small box. Like everything, even engagement rings and wedding bands for women have trends and fashions and we have rounded up some of the top trends of this year.

Yellow gold

The trend in rings for many years has veered toward the white gold side. Yellow gold has stepped into the spotlight recently with a number of celebrities seen wearing these sparklers on their hands.

Floral

Flowers are everywhere right now from clothing to headpieces and everywhere in between. So it is no wonder the trend made its way to engagement rings. These rings are chic and feminine and allow for each couple to inject their personality into the unique design.

Coloured stones

Rings with colourful stones had a resurgence in popularity recently when Prince William proposed to his now wife Catherine with a brilliantly blue sparkler. Suddenly women around the world wished for an emerald, sapphire or garnet on their ring finger. These rings are wonderfully different and will make every bride beautiful.

Cushion cut

These brilliant sparklers don’t appear to be losing their popularity anytime soon. These are diamonds with rounded corners and larger facets for increased sparkle. There has been a surge of popularity of these diamonds with sales on the increase and rivalling that of round and princess cuts.

Halo

The halo ring had been around for a while now but is becoming more and more popular. This effect is created when a centre stone is surrounded by a circle or halo of smaller stones. It allows the centre stone to appear bigger while being comfortable to wear every day.

There are many trends in rings this season, but the most important factor when choosing a ring is to make sure it is something you and your beloved love and will enjoy for the rest of your lives together.
